For their second season in Formula One Super Aguri used a chassis which was based on the RA106 used by parent team Honda the year before.

With it they enjoyed the most successful season of their brief spell in F1. Takuma Sato scored points in Spain and Canada, causing a sensation by overtaking McLaren’s Fernando Alonso at the latter race.

Team mate Anthony Davidson ran as high as third during the same race before having the misfortune to hit an animal which had run onto the track. The team ended the season ninth in the championship, just two points behind Honda.
