Original Michelin A1gp Rear tire with rim
A1GP was a racing class for cars that was run in a worldwide national championship. The creator of the series is Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum who wanted to see attractive races for the public. A1GP was set up as a counterpart to Formula 1, the largest and most famous racing series there is. A1GP hoped to provide the excitement that Formula 1 had been missing for several years. The A1GP was seen as the world championship for national teams.
On September 25, 2005, the first-ever A1-GP race was held at Brands Hatch. Nelson Piquet Jr. won this race with Team Brazil.
The A1GP was dissolved after the last season 2008-2009. Due to financial problems, the championship could no longer take place. The furniture has now been sold. After four years, the motorsport class came to an end in this way.
